Measles is highly contagious and rapidly spreads; therefore it is best to protect your child with this vaccine. A simple cough or sneeze is all it takes to spread the Measles virus. There is a high chance your child will be infected with the Measles virus if they are not immunised.
For full protection your child should be given the Measles vaccine twice, the first dose at about 12 Months and again pre school age between 3years 4months and 5years old.
Your child may have missed their triple MMR Jab or you might be confused, not knowing what to do and the single vaccine course seems a puzzling option.

- Feeling tired and exhausted, Irritability
- Fever, cold symptoms'
- Runny eyes, with swollen eyelids
- Headache and dislike of light
- A bright red rash breaks out on the forehead, face then neck and trunk, working down the body to the feet, over three days.
Measles itself is not so severe, but the complications arise predominantly from the serious secondary bacterial infections leading to more serious complications with the heart and the nervous system. The virus can be fatal or lead to continuing disability, so prevention is much the best option as there is no cure for this virus. Don't take the chance protect your child at least against Measles.
